FINANCE FOR COUNCILS

A full day training event presented by Steve Parkinson, OALC Finance adviser. This course is aimed at clerks, councillors and responsible financial officers.. It will offer an opportunity for everyone to update their knowledge of financial responsibilities and procedures and is based on the guidance contained in Governance & Accountability for Local Councils – A Practitioners Guide (England). Topics covered will include:

 

  • Legislation and guidance
  • Preparing for the financial year ahead
  • Keeping control during the financial year
  • After the financial year ends – accounts and audit
  • Assets
  • Borrowing
  • VAT on large projects
  • Charity accounts

 

Registration and refreshment from 9.30am for a prompt start at 10am, finishing by 3pm. Lunch and delegate pack provided.
