Leading Your Council: Facilitation and Coaching Skills

This brand new course with experienced trainer and parish councillor, Alison Sercombe, will cover skills and techniques for leading your council. This course is aimed at Chairs, Vice-Chairs, Mayors, and Deputy Mayors, as well as those who aspire to be a Chair, and any councillors or clerks who are interested in learning coaching and facilitiation skills with a focus on parish and town councils.

The course will cover topics such as:

  • Leading People:
    • Getting to know your team (council)
    • What happens when relationships break down?
  • Leading Meetings:
    • Planning beforehand
    • Techniques to use during the meeting
    • Debrief after the meeting
    • Dealing with problematic behaviour

The course will run from 9:30am for a 10:00 start and end at 1:00pm. Refreshments will be provided, so please let us know of any dietary requirements when booking.
