Roles and Responsibilities

Parish and town councils play a vital role in representing the interests of the communities they serve and improving the quality of life for local people.

This one-day course, aimed at newly elected councillors and also suitable for new clerks, will outline the roles and responsibilities of clerks and councillors so that they can work together effectively. It will also provide an introduction to law and procedure for local councils and a networking lunch break.

  • Who does what? - Councillors, the Chair, the Council, the Clerk - it's a team

 

Session Two

  • Meetings, Committees, Virtual meetings
  • Agenda, Minutes

  • Your community and engaging with it
  • Social media
  • FoI, GDPR etc
  • Planning
  • Training, keeping up to date

Registration and refreshment from 9.30am for a prompt start at 10am, finishing by 4pm.

Lunch and delegate pack provided.
