MILTON-UNDER-WYCHWOOD PARISH COUNCIL 

VACANCY FOR A PARISH CLERK

Job Title: Parish Clerk

Hours: 20 hours per month

Salary: Salary in accordance with the revised NJC scale (NJC 13-21) (currently £15.06 - 17.18 per hour) depending on experience. In addition you will receive a home working allowance of £26 per month and an optional workplace pension scheme.

Milton-under-Wychwood Parish Council is seeking a Parish Clerk. This would suit a community-minded individual who has the relevant experience and confidence and interpersonal skills to deal with a wide range of individuals from the local and wider communities. The ideal candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills, be computer literate and also have the ability to work on their own initiative.

Please note, the clerk is required to be promptly responsive to emails and calls so this is a role which cannot be done in just one day per week.

The Parish Clerk role involves various administration tasks including:

· Dealing with queries from members of the public in person, by telephone and email

· Advising the Parish Councillors on received procedural and legal updates.

· Meeting Agenda and Briefings preparation, Minute taking at meetings with action follow ups and including updating planning applications with PC decisions to WODC. 

· Ongoing management of the PC website.

· Ensuring Insurances are up to date (working with the Responsible Finance Officer) and any identified damage / claim is dealt with quickly.

· Booking ‘ROSPA’ Playground Inspections and any required playground repairs.

· Minuting occasional meetings of two charities for which the Parish Council is trustee.

· Maintain and monitor a list of outstanding actions arising from Parish Council meetings and prompting councillors so that those actions are completed in a timely manner.

· Managing all Council contracts (such as grass cutting and tree management)

 

Location: Work from home as well as in person for PC meetings once a month (excluding August and December) in Milton-under-Wychwood Village Hall. There may be a requirement to attend Finance Committee meetings which are usually held in the homes of councillors.  A laptop and printer will be provided

Selection Criteria 

Preference is likely to be given to those with previous Clerk experience and the CiLCA qualification - however consideration would be given to an otherwise suitable applicant who is deemed to have the potential to obtain the CiLCA qualification.
