Leading Your Council - Saturday

This course with experienced trainer and parish councillor, Alison Sercombe, will cover skills and techniques for leading your council.

This course is aimed at Chairs, Vice-Chairs, Mayors, and Deputy Mayors, as well as those who aspire to be a Chair, and any councillors or clerks who are interested in learning coaching and facilitiation skills with a focus on parish and town councils.

The course will cover topics such as:

  • Leading People:

  • Getting to know your team (council)

  • What happens when relationships break down?

  • Leading Meetings:

  • Planning beforehand

  • Techniques to use during the meeting

  • Debrief after the meeting

  • Dealing with problematic behaviour

The course will run from 9:30am for a 10:00 start and end at 1:00pm. Refreshments will be provided, so please let us know of any dietary requirements when booking. 

Please note that this course is taking place on a Saturday to help accommodate people who work during the week.
